Week-ends are always hectic in a single-parent home. Saturday in particular can be a nightmare of chores and cleaning, coming and going. It can also become a quality family time with some prior planning. If you take the time to teach your family to help you, week-ends can become a time of value for you and your children. Allow each child to help with the Saturday chores and errands. Although it is usually quicker to do it yourself, children love to impress their parents. I set a goal of each child helping me for a certain number of minutes. Then I attempted to fit a chore to that time limit with due consideration for age and personality. I had to struggle not to redo it but I managed to control myself by making suggestions. About suggestions: A teacher once told me to make suggestions ( or criticisms) sandwiched between praise:
