One of the best ways for romancing and meeting numerous singles is to dance. |

Singles learn that dancing as a meeting place has romantic advantages. |
Enjoyed by many but dreaded by some, dance has always been a part of the meeting and courting game. Even Arthur Murray first turned to dancing as a means of meeting women. Actually, courting and dancing have gone together since the beginning of time. Nature adorns male birds with brilliant colors for their mating dances. The antelope dances during mating season and even the male moose jumps rhythmically when wooing a female. Dancing was an important part of the culture of every primitive tribe. Primitive man celebrated birth, marriage, and death with appropriate dances. |

Courting and dancing have gone together for singles since the beginning of time. |
Although primitive dancing was basically performed by the same sex without touching, social dancing evolved as couples danced with bodily contact. Dancing flourished at the socials of western pioneers. These socials provided companionship and news for isolated settlers, but, more important, they made it possible for the unmarried settlers to meet, court, and marry. At the turn of the century, frontier towns lost their isolation. New music and dance steps soared across the nation as dance crazes were followed by the two-step, ragtime dances, the tango, jitterbug, and more. Early Rock-and Roll was quickly followed by discos and "singles bars." As the divorce rate soared in the 1970s and 1980s, creative singles resurrected old line dances and invented new ones to accommodate the growing single populace. |

Single dancers glided, hopped, and grapevined across
the dance floor in "line" dances or joined arms for the Cotton-Eyed Joe. Line and circle dances still flourish. They allow single dancers to join the fun without a partner and without equal numbers of men and women. Although the popularity of "singles bars" peaked in the 1980s, they are still meeting grounds for young adults and the newly single. And social dancing continues to grow. Social Dancing Just what is social dancing?
It's still the best social meeting ground for singles. Social dancing allows you to forget about your everyday problems and focus on fun, flirting, and camaraderie. As rhythmical body movements provide pleasure for the dancers, dance bonuses include eye contact, body contact, smiling, laughing, body language, and budding romances. If you don't dance, most metropolitan areas provide ample places to learn. One note of caution, however: If a company offering dance lessons will not quote prices on the phone, you may be pressured to sign a high-priced contract when you show up for your "free" lesson.
