The relationship is over; divorce is either in the process or is inevitable with time. With a relationship, even a bad one, there is some security. Now the security of the relationship is gone. But what is security? Hellen Keller said, "Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." What replaces security? For most divorced singles, security is replaced by reality. We are no longer living in a dream world, even if the dream was a nightmare. And the time has come to face reality. Reality checks for divorcing singles: Where will I live? Will my single income be sufficient? How will I make new friends? How will my children react and who will they fare? What do I look like to the opposite sex? Will I date again? Where will I meet someone to date? |
