Any very large metropolis causes people to stay to themselves. In addition, people get tied up with career, family, and friends, then don't have time to expand their circle of acquaintances. Unfortunately, for each year you age, the number of single people available for you to meet shrinks. Example: the vast majority of people under 21 are single. As you move through your 20s, that number shrinks considerably, then shrinks still further in your 30s, and even further in your 40s and 50s. In addition, as you move away from age 21, you spend more time on career, family, and other interests. Thus, your circle of acquaintances shrinks even further. Meeting a soulmate is a numbers' game. When the number of available singles is shrinking, you need to do something to INCREASE your numbers because your chances of meeting a suitable person is SHRINKING, too.

There are several ways for you to meet people one-on-one. You have personal ads of all sorts now from print media to radio stations to the internet. Try as many as you feel comfortable with because every one you try increases your "numbers." And, of course, there is matchmaking. I don't know where you are, but every sizable metropolis has some matchmaking service. Some are better than others. You need attention so go for a more personalized service. Although computers have a long way to go before they can take the place of a live matchmaker, it might benefit you to try a computerized service or two. They are inexpensive and, again, increase your numbers!

How can I tell when a man is interested in me?

That is an easy one. He pays attention to you. Whereas a woman might pay attention to a man to be polite, a man who pays attention to a woman is almost always doing this because he is interested. From the guy who discusses the weather with you at work to the guy who talks to you in the checkout line, be almost certain they are doing this because you seem interesting.
